Far down in the valley lies Vivelid, sheltered by birch woods, only one hours walk from Hjølmoberget on the motor road.

Many people consider Veigdalen, with its changing scenery, its rich and varied fauna and flora, one of the finest beauty spots of the Hardangervidda plateau.

· From Liseth it is 4-5 hours` walk, and about the same distance from Stavali

· From Heldo Lodge it is only an hour and a half’s walk

· The walk to Torehytta, on the flanks of Hårteigen Mountain, takes 6-7 hours.

From about 1890 travellers started spending the night at Vivelid. The mountain lodge was opened in 1950.

Only 25 minutes` walk from Vivelid the imposing waterfall of Valursfossen tumbles 272 meter( 820 feet) to the valley below.

Vivelid Mountain Lodge is also an excellent centre for those who are out for reindeer or smaller game, and for those who want to try luck with rod and line in one of Vivelid`s two rivers, The Veig or The Vivo.

The Lodge has electricity, drying rooms, showers and telephone. About 50 guests can be accommodated. The Lounge with its log fireplace, is large enough to accommodate all guests.
