This is a truly unique adventure playground right on our doorstep, offering excitement both on the peaks and out on the water. With our exceptionally long ski seasons, the outdoors is open for action year-round! Kayaking in Fyksesund – Hardangerfjord’s Hidden Gem

Fyksesund is one of many fjord arms branching off the Hardangerfjord – but none compare to its raw, untouched beauty. Towering waterfalls, dramatic cliffs, and serene waters create a spectacular backdrop for adventure. Many places in this area can only be reached by boat or kayak, making this the perfect gateway to Hardanger’s wild side.

From the quiet glide of your kayak, you’ll experience a calm that lets nature truly sink in. Paddling through the narrow fjord is an unforgettable journey, suitable for both adults and young explorers. Your adventure can easily be combined with hikes to Botnen, the Kiellandsbu cabin, or Skåro. We offer scheduled daily tours, and we are happy to tailor private trips on request.

The tour typically starts at Porsmyr, but departures from other locations in Hardanger can be arranged.

Climbing & Rappelling in Ålvik – Adventure for Everyone

Climbing in Hardanger is pure fun – a perfect blend of excitement, challenge, and mastery. Whether you’ve been dreaming of trying it for years or want a memorable activity for the whole family, this is your chance to experience climbing and rappelling in a safe, supportive environment. Suitable for anyone aged 6 and up.

Our climbing site is located in Ålvik, beautifully situated by the sea with a stunning view.

After a short briefing, we walk 5–10 minutes down a rugged path to the climbing area. Just before we arrive, there is a small 2-meter section we must climb down using a secure rope and good handholds.

At the cliff we have several routes available, from easy to more challenging. We normally begin with the easiest climb and move on to higher levels if you wish. You climb as high and as much as you like – there is no pressure, only pure enjoyment.

If you’re curious about rappelling, you’ll also get the chance to try that. We spend about 4 hours at the crag, and if conditions allow, we’ll light a small fire to make coffee. Local apple juice is served with lunch. Bring your own snacks, a cup, and plenty of water. If it rains, we set up a tarp so everyone stays dry.

Two-Day Folgefonna Adventure with Glacier Hike

For families and friends who crave real adventure!
Join us on a two-day expedition with an overnight stay and glacier hiking on the magnificent Folgefonna – an experience you’ll remember for a lifetime.

We begin at the parking lot with a short introduction and gear distribution. If the group is keen, we take a detour to Bondhusvatnet to see Norway’s most iconic boat. Then we follow the historic Keisarstien trail, passing the mountain pasture at Gardshammar and continuing to Botnavatnet, which we skirt on the western side. Eventually we reach the DNT cabin Breidablikk before the final stretch towards Fonnabu.

If the plan includes Holmaskjer, we continue past Fonnabu down to the glacier edge, where we gear up for the ice crossing. The walk from the glacier’s edge to Holmaskjer is about 6 km and takes approximately 2.5 hours. If staying at Fonnabu, we decide whether the glacier hike is done the same day or the next morning before we head back down to the parking lot.

Weather can shift rapidly on the glacier, and we cannot guarantee that the ice crossing will be possible or that we can reach Holmaskjer.

The hike to Fonnabu is about 10 km with 1,400 m elevation gain and takes around 7 hours plus breaks. Continuing to Holmaskjer adds another 7 km, 150 m elevation, and roughly 5 hours including gearing up.

All participants help carry shared equipment and their own glacier gear. Everyone also takes part in simple tasks at the mountain hut.
