About

Norwegian landscape parks are unique in their focus on both the natural and cultural aspects of an area.

Vikebygd Landskapspark stretches along road Fv 550, between Kvitno river in the south and Velure in the north. About 600 people live here, in several smaller villages. Resting at the top of the mountainside lies Norway's third largest glacier, Folgefonna. Driving along the road you can see the beautiful cultural landscape, with many fruit orchards clustered between the Hardangerfjord and Folgefonna glacier. Several places people still live in what is called "cluster farms". Before modernization of agriculture took place, people built their houses close together and lived in a sort of village. Agatunet is such a "cluser farm". Here everything is left as it was when it was a lively hamlet. It is open to visitors in the summer.
