The stone church in Lofthus was probably built between 1250 and 1300. It is an example of Gothic architecture with pointed arches. Legend says that the masterbulders were English or Scottish. Between 1884 and 1886 the church was renovated and the tower was added. The inventory date from different epochs and the bells are from the middle ages.
