About
Beside the Sørfjord in Odda stands Lothepus Camping — a newly built site combining modern accommodation with viking-inspired architecture. The camp offers 10 cabins, a large apartment, 72 pitches for motorhomes, caravans and tents, and shared facilities housed in a stave church and a longhouse.
The site was built on the old slag heaps from Odda's former smelting plant, opening in 2025 after several years of planning and construction. The architecture draws on Norwegian viking-age and medieval traditions, with heavy timber beams, dragon-head carvings and wood detailing throughout.
For larger groups, a two-storey apartment sleeps up to 10 guests and includes its own bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen. The 10 cabins come in two sizes — a small cabin for 4–6 people and a large cabin for 6–8 people — each with bedrooms, a loft, a sofa bed, a kitchen and a private outdoor area. The campsite has 72 pitches in three categories: up to 8 metres, 8–15 metres and tent pitches on drained grass, with power, showers, wifi and a service station.
