About

The Poetry Festival in Ulvik is held every other year on the second weekend of September. The next festival takes place 11–13 September 2026. For one September weekend, the festival fills the entire village of Ulvik with poetry, music, and cultural events. At the historic community hall Elvatun, visitors can enjoy concerts, the Hauge Conversation, and the festival pub, serving local food and drinks. Poetry readings are also held outdoors among apple trees and cider orchards along Norway’s only Fruit and Cider Route. At the Hauge Centre, you can explore exhibitions about Olav H. Hauge’s life and work, experience poetry in many forms, and visit the museum shop. The festival also includes events in Hauge’s garden at the Rossvoll homestead. Ulvik is part of the international Cittaslow network, with a strong focus on sustainability, local traditions, quality of life, and hospitality. During the festival, welcoming volunteers are present at venues throughout the village. Welcome to an inspiring poetry festival in the Cittaslow village of Ulvik.
