About

The tours start in the harbor of Eidfjord and go either into the Simadalsfjorden or towards the Hardanger Bridge.

The Hardangerfjord should be experienced up close, from the water. In Eidfjord, you have the chance to do that - with Hardanger Fjordsafari and their RIB speedboat. They offer RIB boat tours where you will move quickly through the landscape on the one hand and stop many times to enjoy nature up close in quiet surroundings.

The boat tour starts from the harbor in Eidfjord, with equipment adjustments and safety instructions. During the stops on the water, your tour guide will tell you many interesting facts about the area. One of the popular stops is the Hotle, a place that can only be reached by boat. Goats graze here, and they like to come down to the boat to be greeted. With a bit of luck, you will see seals too; there are several places along the way where those cute animals often hang out. Sea eagles and other water birds are also not uncommon guests in Eidfjord and can be seen on many tours, so keep your camera ready!

The shorter RIB boat tours often go into the fjord Simadalsfjorden, at the end of which the Sima hydroelectric power station is located. Sima power station is one of the largest hydroelectric power stations in Norway. You will learn how the history of this power station is related to attractions such as the Vøringsfossen waterfall, the Hardangerjøkulen glacier, and the Sysendammen dam. From the middle of the Simadalfjord, you will also have a view of the mountain farms Kjeåsen and Skår, the glacier, and the Hardanger Bridge.

An alternative route goes towards the Hardanger Bridge. With a span of 1310 meters and a total length of 1380 meters, this is the longest suspension bridge in Norway. Here you will learn a lot of exciting facts about the construction process and the dimensions. On this route, you will pass places of cultural and historical importance as well as an impressive waterfall that comes right up to the boat on rainy days.

For groups of 15-24 people, Hardanger Fjordsafari offers shorter RIB boat tours lasting around 30 minutes. For these shorter tours, the wishes of the participants and the wind and wave conditions decide the actual route.
