About

This guided hike takes you from the narrow waters of the Fyksesund fjord to the open mountain landscape high above the Hardangerfjord. The journey begins by boat, travelling deep into one of the region’s most secluded fjord arms to reach Botnen — a roadless hamlet where the trail starts.

The route follows an old mountain path once used by local farmers moving livestock between fjord and summer farms. Today, it offers a demanding but rewarding hike through steep valleys and along a high ridge with wide views over fjord and mountains.

Along the way, local guides share stories of life in this isolated landscape and how people have lived between fjord and fjell for generations. This experience combines nature, culture, and movement — designed for guests seeking a deeper and more authentic encounter with Hardanger.
