About

Nattjazz in Bergen wrote the following when Trygve Seim Ensemble last performed there in 2021:

"Trygve Seim has an exceptional melodic instinct, knows how to bring out the best in his fellow musicians, and it's a joy to listen to the detailed detours he takes along the way in his music.

With his lyrical compositions, it's only natural that Seim caught the attention of Manfred Eicher, which has resulted in a large number of releases on ECM Records. He is joined by a hand-picked group, each a world-class instrumentalist in their own right, and together they create beautiful music for both heart and mind."

Trygve Seim – saxophones

Torben Snekkestad – saxophones

Embrik Snerte – bassoon, contraforte

Håvard Lund – clarinets

Eivind Lønning – trumpet

Øyvind Brække – trombone

Lars Andreas Haug – tuba

Alejandra Conde-Campos – cello

Frode Haltli – accordion

Patrycja Wybranczyk – drums

The Trygve Seim Ensemble features a unique instrumentation, and its members are outstanding ensemble musicians as well as brilliant soloists.

This year, the ensemble celebrates the 25th anniversary of its debut album Different Rivers (2000), which also marked Trygve Seim's ECM debut.

At the concert in Kabuso, the ensemble will perform highlights from this album and from their second ECM release, Sangam.
In addition, the program includes music from the commissioned work Reis (Vossajazz 2006), as well as newer compositions that Seim has written for the ensemble in recent years.
